Go Green!! Go Gold!!
Until you have experienced a PDS field day there is really no way to put it in to words. It is a family fun filled day with traditions that go way back! You are green, or you are gold for life! The playing of the Olympic anthem begins our day. The 6th grade leads everyone out and lights the torch, and all the students march out and take their place to cheer loud and run fast when their time comes.
This year was no different! The rain held off and gave us lots of clouds for shade. The competition was fierce - giving us a tie at the end and requiring a tie breaker! The green team came out on top winning Field Day 2017, and the gold team received the sportsmanship trophy. We can't wait for next year!!
5th & 6th grade visit Jackson & Vicksburg

6th grade Charm Class
We are so thankful for a group of young adults that have spent their time pouring into our 6th graders. Our Headmaster, Ryan Dean and Oakhurst Baptist Church youth minister, Chris Cauthen have been spending time with our boys teaching them life lessons as well as sharing God's word. Leslie Dean and several others, including Edna Swindle, have been sharing with our girls about nutrition, modesty, and appearance. The girls have been learning that they are a masterpiece and that God created them in His own image. We can't believe time is winding down, and it won't be long until these sixth graders graduate. Thank you Ryan, Chris, Leslie, and Edna!!

1st grade play
So proud of our amazing first graders!! They did such a great job in their play this morning. We learned all about the fruit of the spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Thank you for reminding us that we can all have these fruits if we ask Jesus to come in to our hearts!!
Fourth grade Armor of God
Fourth grade has been studying about the Armour of God in Ephesians 6:10-17. "Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
They had fun designing their own armor and reciting their verse to some of our classes today. Our hope is that they will put on this armor of God when facing many trials in their life! Great job fourth grade!!

The Game of Life
PDS makes learning life skills fun!
It was snowing outside but PDS boys and girls had a fun day learning about finances through our "Game of Life". Students were taught, through hands on activities, about budgeting, careers, wants and needs, deposits and withdrawals, and several other financial issues. After learning these important concepts, students got to play a live version of the "Game of Life". They were given a monthly salary and had to manage their money. There was even a PDS bank where they could buy a house and car. Learning these important concepts helped the boys and girls appreciate all their parents have to do with their money each month. Hopefully they will use these skills to make better decisions!!
Christmas Chapel and Party Time!!
It's hard to believe that this was almost two weeks ago and now it is almost time to head back to school. We had so much fun in Chapel singing praises and pointing our hearts and minds to the One Christmas is all about. The Girl's Ensemble performed for us and that is always a treat! During Chapel our homeroom moms were hard at work preparing for our class parties. We returned to our rooms for fun, games, and special treats! Our homeroom moms are the BEST!! We hope everyone has enjoyed their time off from school...now it is time to get back to learning! We can't wait to see you all Friday!!
